Lustor
It is sad. Yes I hope she will bring some closure to this. I don't think she will have complete closure but some will come. A family is a precious thing all should do what is possible to protect it.

I didn't know my dad until I was in my mid 20's
by that time his gambling and drinking started to take a toll on him. He was in a hospital bed when I first met him. We had an off again, on again relationship but he was so depressed that I couldn't handle it anymore. I stopped calling him. He died a a few years later. I regret not talking to him during the last years of his life. So many unanswered questions.

Is that a California law? It surely isn't true here. I was the only one out of our family to sign for the creamation of my sister. Even her daughter couldn't sign because she was in another state and in the hospital at the time.

This is so sad. Why can't we all wake up and realise life is short and fragile, and that we need to sort out rleationships while we can.

An unfortunate situation all the way around. Hopefully your friend attains the closure you write of her getting in seeing the body.

I agree with you ~ even though the soul is gone - the closure in sharing a last moment - a last look and final goodbye is important. Elyse
