I would say they haven't done so (spoken out) as much as you think they
should be doing because the extremist practice of Islam is not their interpretation of the religion and also yes, there most likely is danger from an entrenched and protected junta, that of the Saudi Arabian sphere. Anyone who takes the time to explore and research terrorism knows that Islamo-Fascism does indeed exist, the divide is over
why it exists.

This post makes me realize how long it has been since I took a course of any kind and how much I would enjoy doing that again.

You are right again... and you will probably would not be able to teach such a course... but if we ( you and all of us you have converted :-)) can not "teach" others that there is such a thing as Islamo-fascism then they have already won... because how can we fight what most people afirm does not exist...we might as well throw in the towel and learn to speak arabic... Be well :-) xoxoxo

Oh yes, there definitely is an Islamo-Fascism. And unfortunately I don't think you would be able to teach a course on the subject for the reasons you described.

Naut perhaps you should set out what course it is you would like to teach
Set out in a sentence or two the unit objectives, then map out the curriculum. For me to judge the merit of a course I would need to see that. You could make it provocative and have some fun with the title etc. I don't mean you should run about trying to flog a course but it would be an interesting exercise to see how you would design it.
Those courses at Cambridge are very short and designed as part of continuing education, and with people coming along out of interest rather than as part of a degree program. It's probably a bit tough for a teacher to cover the huge spectrum of fascism within Islam and international relations and global terrorism before lunch. It would be interesting to run a course somewhere less well served than Cambridge.
It's good to be firm in one's views, and not to pussy-foot about. Provocative perhaps more than offensive.

Nautikos
Well done particularly speaking of what is available in education. Little totally comprehensive and non biased manner on anything anymore. There is not a so much quest for knowledge as an offering up of what fits into the norm of world acceptance today.

It amazes the things people do because they are told to do it! Just amazed! Shelly
