Re: moderation
couldn't agree more.  If pity itself is a valid and worthy emotion, then there must be a spot, however modest, for some self-pity. No one should go nuts with it, but I believe we can indulge ourselves a little, or else we're being the slightest bit puritanical.

I like your blog ~ as you say, as long as it's not a steady diet.  I believe in moderation - Elyse

Re: One lucky person to another...
Thank you, Pat!  The self pity - junk food connection has haunted me for a long time.  Maybe it's just me, but I too often find myself wallowing in self-pity until I realize what's happening.  Even THEN it frequently doesn't stop and I just enjoy, well,  another wallow or two before straightening out..  That's where the simile kicks in - "Poor Bob" is an awful lot like "Just one more Oreo..."  or finishing the french fries.  I guess you're right about the TLC.  And yes, I've thought about publishing.  Not only am I not sure how to go about it, but it's a brand new field for me. I've always enjoyed writing, but as for poetry, I never really tried it seriously until I "blogged on" on January 7!  Before that, I had a grand total of 3 poems.  It's almost become something I have to turn off so I can go to sleep!  I feel like a teenager with a new car!

One lucky person to another...
self pity's one thing, self concern and TLC is quite another. I like the way you arrive at the theme and the rhyme. If I were an editor, I'd be publishing your stuff...
