Line of the week:
“The combination of a biracial, mentally challenged gay male may be too much for them,” she told the local TV station.

By the way, Naut- you were correct about Woody Allen playing clarinet.  I was wrong with the sax and have fixed it!  Mal

hmm...
Actually, Palouse is a charming little town near Pullman, home of Washington State University.  A lot of academics from the university live there...  This is more appropos of the townlet of Garfield itself which I can personally attest--having friends who live there-- seems to have difficulties with folk who are not quite "like us."  By "us" of course, I mean them.

Naut, did he get the pom=poms? --- Seems strange in an everchanging world that yes things like this still happen.  Elyse  You and Yours have a happy Valentine's day weekend.

One would think that the other mother's would endorse having him on the squad, their daughters are completely safe! I aver, only in Washington! This is the craziest story I have ever heard, to date! I know you will find one to top it! In high school my oldest son wanted to try out for the girls volleyball team, but I know he had no intention of hitting the ball(s) over the net! Yes, it was all about courtside! I never approached the ACLU, I didn't want to see him field, or floor a team before 25! lol BTW, I was just messing with imagery, it was loosely based on a former student of mine who was jilted and he put a gun in his mouth, while intoxicated, and at the last second, changed his mind but the gun went off and he blew off his nose! Just a ghastly incident that required many surgeries! Shelly

Named the school after Garfield, huh? Give the dude his pom-poms.

Just to point out that Palouse is not Seattle.
In Seattle he could shake his pom-poms, walk his invisible dog, wear rainbow tights or join the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, (guys in nun's drag who distribute condoms and health info in the avant garde district).  Palouse is way out in the boondocks, a place very much like the inbred wide spot I couldn't wait to escape from when I got out of high school.
