- Go to WHERE? W HAT IS HAPPENING TO THE DONATIONS
Earthquake
We know that the Red Cross stole a lot of money from 9/11. The United Way should be looked on askance as well because of several shady practices. I am not a fan of any other charitable organization who seems to be a johnny come lately. When the earthquake hit I called The Salvation Army and sent my money there. Why? Because they were already on the scene BEFORE there was a disaster. They don't pose for photo-ops like the Red Cross does nor do they blow their own horn. They just go where they are needed and do the job.

I thought the donations were controlled by
Red Cross
Salvation Army
United Way
Christian religious agencies.
not the Haitian gov't.

it really is a horrible place out there
someone should really look to see where the money is going, because I am sure it is going to the hands of the officials in gov.

I don't think we will ever know the answers to the questions that you ask.
Those people are still dying everyday from no continuing care to wounds after surgery, no necessary nutrition for wound healing, infections, not even any bandages or medicine are given after they were first treated--just discharged to tent cities or to nowhere.

Oh I can not even write about that, it makes me so sad. I knew it would happen when I saw how much money was being funneled that way. The whole country of Haiti was not worth so much! It was a terribly poor place. and yes with a very corrupt government Its terrible to see those bottom feeders take advantage to such suffering :-( xoxoxo

Corruption is rife everywhere on this planet..seems all governments are
infected and when disaster strikes, it's a gift for the greedy and connected. While millions languish and die needlessly.
Actually there is a book titled "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism." I haven't read it yet. Good post, Justi.
p.s. - You write beautifully, always. We do have differing viewpoints and while I believe respectful but honest debate is vital to freedom, sometimes the best thing is agree to disagree.

Re: Sigh I have heard these complaints always...I remember one time in Sydney
I live near the bush (forest) fires areas in Victoria. I can ensure most of the donations are going to the people living there not halls. However many towns need a civic building to attract tourist. This money is not coming from donations.
I expect most people who write about Hati are also misinformed. The people are mainly Catholic. While they welcome support from other Christians they do not want their children stolen.

Sigh I have heard these complaints always...I remember one time in Sydney
after several outter suburbs had suffered terrible bush fire, people donated clothing vouchers, furniture and refrigerators etc to individual people, because all the money was going into a community hall....like you have lost everything you ever owned except the clothes you stand in and they build a hall first? Yes, I believe Haiti is a terrible corrupt situation....and as always I can only pray.
