This is an important thing that many people don't realize!  In an emergency course, I was taught that if you ever have to ask someone to dial 911 in a public setting, you should ask someone specifically to call (use their name), never just say "Someone call 911!", because everyone assumes someone else is already on it.  This same rule applies to a lot of chaotic situations, not just emergencies.  I am a kitchen manager, and often I find the cooks or servers asking generally, "Can someone get me this?" or "Can someone help me?", and getting frustrated because no one is paying attention.  In the hustle-bustle, no one is really hearing the plea.  I will step up and say "Audrey, can you get a side of blue cheese for the cooks?" or "Kimmy, can you help Jennifer run food?"  This is a fast and efficient way to ensure that someone will pay attention.  I never really thought about the fact that a person's name is the most important word in the world to them, but it does make sense.

Using a name is so important...Often when I complete surveys other businesses (i.e. banks, Staples) give me they ask if I was referred to by name.

I think you are very correct! And one thing I learned a long time ago is that people don't mind being asked their name if one forgets! It is about the ownership and identity you spoke about! sam
