Re: hiccups
Thank you! It was fun to write, especially once I solved the narrative problem - 2 things in stanza one saved me a lot of time and space: making her my date and using that word "couple".

A Funny Scene
You should probably keep it in mind as a scene for a screenplay.

Re: Well, let's call them "The Hics"
Thank you! It's one of those family stories that get told at get-togethers and needed a little bit of celebration.

Re: Lol, this is Great!
Thanks! That means a lot to me! I usually come up with this stuff early in the morning and often wonder how it sounds later in the day. I read it to my wife at breakfast and she likes it, but we're each other's biggest fans.

Re: Hippups
Well, I don't know now simple it would actually be - Kate tells me she wasn't quite sure the wife believed the real explanation (But I'm sure that secretly it was kind of fun for the husband, though)!. Thank you for the visit and comment!

Re: LOL
Thank you very much! Her name is Kate, and this really happened in San Francisco (she's my sister-in-law, but I made her a girlfriend to keep the poem short and punchy).
