YOU GROSSLY MISREPRESENT
You make it seem like the IRS will collect taxes from you and me at the barrel of a gun.

See below -- that's the real reason -- there are people who would shoot at them in the course of their duty -- and not the ordinary, law abiding taxpayer.

As you mentioned, they already have shotguns.

I certainly hope your type of paranoia isn't contagious.

Re: Re: so the IRS should have gone up to Al Capone without weapons?
let's try this again -- I need to know what you tihinnk.  Do you believe the IRS should NOT have weapons?

Do you believe the IRS goes after just plain ordinary Joes all the time?

Do you believe they don't have a thing to do with dangerous criminals?

They could have arrested Al Capone -- just gone up to him barehanded and felt safe doing so?

So you believe sawed off shotguns are unnecessary?

so the IRS should have gone up to Al Capone without weapons?

tax crimes are one way the gov't has to get criminals off the street that wouldn't otherwise be jailed.

and these guys don't play nice.

Corbin
I am wondering what the IRS is doing with any kind of gun, regardless of barrel length...I guess I'm still labouring under the naive illusion that law enforcement is a police matter...
