As a drafter in the present tense,
I concur with Dewdrop's warning. Good engineers, architects and drafters can actually intuit three dimensional designs from two dimensional drawings, just as good writers, authors and editors can intuit the structure of a novel or manuscript from an outline or synopsis.
BTW the soup sounds delicious. I will have to make that up for the SO.

now, as a former drafter-- im going to give u some advice on understanding
architects and the like.
Their minds work with symbols. You may find they use pictures to explain just about everything and when without a pen... be prepared to interpet getures, similes and metaphors up the wazoo.
LOL just a warning
