it takes courage to walk that first step but keep going girl...you have one life and your son needs your strength.  Good luck to you and to your husband who hopefully will grow up and see what is important

Victimhood
I'm sorry to say this but you sound like you are casting yourself as a victim in all of this. I think it would be great for you to tap into your personal power. Living with the kind of person you are with and letting his behaviour rule your life is not the way. Time to get help, get powered up and get out. Who knows what fantastic life is waiting for you outside all of this drama? As for your son, the longer he is experiencing this toxic relationship at such close quarters, the worse his childhood's gonna be. Do you want to create another alcoholic abandoner?
Sorry if I'm overstepping - its just that sometimes the truth is better from a disembodied voice in space than a family member or friend who don't want to hurt you.

I have a twisted past with and alcoholic and I have alcoholic parents. It's sad and destructive. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this and proud of you for not caving when he calls, out of fear of being single. It took me a long time to be strong enough to stand on my own two feet....I'm SO grateful I did though. Good luck to you!

I was married to an alcoholic! They are always the victim, demeaning others and so selfish! For me a drunk is a drunk and one is better off without them! They cause pain and all their innuendo is just garbage! I hope you can move on and find someone who is nurturing! sam
