He lives on his bicycle somewhere??  I don't think you should worry too much about who to call on Jean's behalf - it sounds like she is going to starve to death soon - even sooner if the waiter is a man.

Re Nautikos: how's June doing?
June was at the library this afternoon. Since the temp's in the 40s and the ice is mostly gone she can navigate. She says she's been writing like mad while she's been stuck in the house, and the story's going very well. So some good has come of the bad weather.

Pat

I think the only place where you can be really quite safe from earthquakes is right in the middle of the famous Canadian Shield! Here we're at the edge of it, and we do get the odd little tremor, but I doubt very much that anyone in this Province of Ontario is thinking about the possibility of a 'big one'.

The CN Tower here in Toronto? The office towers? I wonder how much 'earthquake preparedness' went into those structures...

But there is occasional activity, especially around Georgian Bay and the Niagara Peninsula...

I can sense the resignation in your writing.  Patience is the best way to handle the situation and you seem to have a lot of it.

Very sensible not to mention snags about fish. You seem to be a very, very patient friend.....

how sad..I loathe getting older..it hurts, joint pain and one is always
concerned that time will spoil the brain and memory. I think I will take a long swim...like set out across the Pacific for Australia if I get too bad.

unless she is in distress
and needs medical care, i would let her be and enjoy her moods or whatever the politically correction days would call it.

Whoa. I feel sorry for her; sounds like she's in a lot of pain. I've found that when people get unhappy about everyone and everything around them, the real trouble is internal, not external. Sounds like she's very angry at herself about something. That's a bad place to dwell. Sending a little prayer Jean's way, poor gal.

LOL - enjoy the ride, Pat-B. When the time comes, there usually are community services to help citizens deal with demetia. I would check it out first though. Then again, maybe she's just enjoying the ride too. Why not? At her age, you can get away with practically anything!!
