"thin Aussie constitution"-love it! I'm not way below freezing here, so the gentle cold front has a different effect than a true deep freeze like you're in. Don't get me wrong, it bites your hands and ears here still, but it doesn't have that "lay down in your heavy jacket and just take a nap" sedative feeling. I suppose "brisk" is the word of the day.
