I agree with Tzippy Pat. You are the one with the awesome talent, and think how much fun you could have choosing how to kill him off to make a happy ending.

I wouldn't give up so quickly - it might be interesting exploring this man's psyche...

And to Hackthorne: Hack, Wiley is a HE...

Wow! Wiley!
Pat, I can understand you will need to consider everything. Wiley, blew me away with her comment.

I agree that it would be very difficult to make the story come out positively. My ex FIL was a sicko like that and the only positive thing he did was die.

It would be a twist if the 9 year old killedhim.

I agree, sometimes a character worms their way into your story and it is
not what you want....getting rid of them can be tough.I kill them off but that can be trite and too ordinary.

Pat-B, I didn't like him either, right from the beginning. But...yes..it probably could be a fascinating story - depends how you kill the bugger off, LOL! And TAPS is right - you will know!

If anyone can make it be a worthwhile and fascinating read, you can.  But, as you say, is it well for you, to get all caught up in trying to write about him?  I don't know.  I'll bet you could do it without turning into a pervert.  LOL

I can well imagine it must be challenging to write a story which includes a "creep" or at the very least to give a creep some dimension.

You may not want to continue with it just now, but in a few weeks or a few months you may well want to go on developing the story. The idea of a character who is a pathologically jealous dad is very interesting and challenging. I hope you do not forget about this completely.

you dont always need a happy ending
If you can handle writing about this character,  I think you began developing it GREAT, any reader would want to hear more. Did I say its greatly written? Remember, the thing about fiction is you can define the character any way you wish. You can give him redeeming factors like perhaps how much he loves his son. That can justify his behavior and make him conflicted with his love for her etc etc. Remember he is YOUR creation, you can kill him off in the next chapter if you so wish. You can do anything you want as long as you write it well, WHICH YOU DO!!!! anyway, my best advise to you, follow your own guidelines trust in your intuition and GO FOR IT, you have the talent USE IT, dont question it.
