Naut....
Sorry I haven't checked out this series.......I will now catch up!

You are so on target! (no pun intended)  Assassination makes the act sound so much more civilized when compared to murder or homicide......

I always thought that assassination was murder, but used when the murder involved a public/well known person.  This is going to be interesting.  Since your next post on this is already up, that's where I go now.

It is an interesting point on the word. assassination! I have always thought the killer of President Kennedy got a special, undeserved attention. For me it is either murder or attempted murder! Shelly

OK, in that case, do you think it would be better to use the word 'liquidation'?

Very interesting Naut... as you probably know in spanish the word for murder is asesinato , in Italian assasinio, and in portuguesse assasinato  all three very close to the English version.   All three languages have no other word for assasination , a killing is a killing, so when it IS an assasination they refer to it as a political murder.  But Arabic does have a word for murder: القتل  ,different from  assasination, but funny enough the word assasination its the one they use when reffering to an  a political killing , they just pronounce it a little different... I can't wait to see where you are going with this :-)  xoxoxo

I never thought about analyzing the use of the word "assassination." For now I'm witholding judgment and will wait to see the rest of what you say before coming up with a decision.
