That makes me laugh...another woman with mad parking skills! Fabulous! And yes, my children will have mandatory times with Mom...their old mother requires it. Otherwise I cut them off from little things like....oh, say...food, and shelter....possibly allowance..., etc! Take a picture of the next tight squeeze and send it to me...that would be hilarious!

darson, I admire your observation skills
because I dont have it. You see it, you remember it and than you laugh about it, and you write it, I like that.2. my suggestion, find as much time as you can to confine your kids into spending time with you no matter what it takes, you will never regret it 3. we have something else in common I am great at parking in small spaces, my kids already know when they see a space that everybody ignores because they think its too small they always say "Only mom can park in this space."

Oh, what a grrrreat memory! Like your idea on the children's book...but could I actually use the words, "Button-Head", knowing full well what that little boy REALLY meant to say?

A bunch of us from the office went on a ski trip once.
I was 18, had never been on skis, the trip to Mt. Rainier lodge from Seattle was about an hour, everyone was in a kids at recess mood, not at all like the grownups I knew from the office. I took one lesson, made it down the baby slope a couple of times, and then just sat in the lodge sipping hot cocoa and listening to the real skiers talking about the powder and the wind and radiating joy. Thank you for reminding me of that.  I love your story about the French fry kids, wouldn't that work into a cute children's book...

Yep, it was there, all right! Plastered all over my snow-frosted face! (The snow was from the little kids....I was eating the snow that shooshed off of their skis cause they were faster than me...the equivalent of 'eating their dust'!)

...What fun! Anyone with skiing and snow sports in their history has been blessed, indeed! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOO, WILEY!

Elyse!
Yes, Elyse, I could hear you laughing at me and commenting (in that cute drawl of your's) about my parking job up at the resort! It was comical, to say the least. I'll bet there were only six inches between my passenger side and the other person's driver's side. Hence the note. Sounds like you and I should have been skiing buddies...meanderers is a good word, that's pretty much what I do the whole time, nothing extreme. It's just that I LOVE being up there. I love the drive, I love the smell of the pines and the fresh snow. I love it when there's sunshine, when the entire valley's been in an inversion for weeks. It's the best! From one Wedge City to Another!

What a blast Darson ~ of course I never cared for downhill but, more cross-country...I'm one of those meanderers.  LOL. with the 'drawl' mind you.  and wedge city here.  I'm impressed with the intermediate slope.  I did that once or twice but quickly liked the bunny hill best.  (LOL) I tell ya' Darson I was on that ski trip with you.  When you write, it's like being right there with you in spirit.  You're just too fun ~ and great at writing all about it.  Have fun out there ~ and have fun parking.  Elyse xoxo

...Oh, and I forgot to mention the sinful plate of nachos we split with a couple of hot chocolates up at the lodge! A seriously good time. Thank you, Adnohr! So nice to know you're one to appreciate the very same types of things. I just can't stay indoors in the winter! Who would want to, with that fresh winter air? MMMMMM!

For me, there is NOTHING compares to being outdoors doing something (skiing, skating, toboggan, even walking) to put life into perspective. I've always though of it as a "time-out for the soul". Great that you have the bonus of quality time spent with Jordan on the drive back & forth. KOOL!

Wow, what was that guy with the snowblower even thinking??? "Hmmm, this'll get that clog of snow out...." (???) Yeah, TJ actually lettered in high school skiing...I didn't know a person could do that...Jordan's on the team this year and races. He's supposedly very fast...it makes me a little nervous. Oh, and the view from some of those mountaintops...? Wow. I know, I just stay in the lodge sometimes, reading, when it's too miserable.

My son was headed up snowboarding near Boise this morning! I think he has gone everyday and I say ski season is here, too! But the funniest thing, he called on his way up the mountain and we got a bit of a dusting of snow in the valley, and a gentleman was using his snow blower. It must have jammed but it was running, and he stuck a branch in the area that rotates. I immediately asked if it ripped his arm off. No snow to speak of, not even close to enough for a snow blower and then jam things in it! lol all the day long. But I remember those days of getting kids to the resorts; I had two that were racers. The youngest was on a high school team and a national race team. I would say to him, 'Why isn't your winter sport indoors?' lol The other one played basketball. Enjoy the time they are out the door and headed to the slopes on their own before ya know it! I thought it was so cool to have a memory on coming down the hill and seeing the valley, a glorious sight, indeed! sam

The vehicles have gotten larger as the parking spaces have shrunk. That was very kind of you to write a note, letting other motorists know you would move if need be...Those two boys bring me back to those wild younger years when my sis.
