Birthday
My son turns 18 on the 28th. We have always made it a point to separate his birthday from the holiday. The twins have a similar problem. While two parties is a bit excessive, we do hold one party with two themes and two cakes. Boy/girl twins, don't you know.
Don't worry about what to write. Just start typing. You may end up delete a couple of paragraphs to get to the good stuff, but the process will lead you to the thoughts.

I too have always felt sorry for people who are born so close to Christmas.
Just before probably worse than just after. Glad you are to keep writing.
