Since I read this last, I googled the two of them, both husband and wife, and read all about them.  So interesting.  Thank you.

What a writer, indeed! Such perspective! Why groups do themselves in this way is beyond me! But I love the commitment, I known of none other! Shelly

A very enlightening read. I myself wonder if American Jews will eventually shift over to the right or if they will continue their voting practices.

Naut......
I sometimes believe that American Jews think they can assuage any guilt they may feel towards Israel regarding their political actions here in America, through the money that they give to the homeland...........

Their support of the most Anti-Israel of our politicians is mind-boggling....to say the least!

Nautikos
This is an excellent piece. I have been closely associated with Jewish people for almost 50 years. The New York Jews mostly from Russia were so helpful to me during my struggle to get into the garment business. They were not at that time particularly helpful to the gentile. For some reason they all were kind, instructive and welcoming to me. I learned a lot about them this way; however, I have studied them all my life from the Christian point of view. Let me rephrase that a bit. Many Christians are not knowledgable nor do they affirm the Jews. The Bible affirms and confirms them. The Jews are God's chosen people. They are stubborn as this article correctly points out. They are looking at the heart issue not the facts. They missed Christ's first coming because they were looking for what they wanted not the facts. However, no one will wipe them off the earth. That will not happen. They have been driven from their land for the last time. There is no nuclear threat more powerful than God. When he chooses to use his power it is all power. That is their land and all who oppose that will be in more trouble than they can imagine, eternally.

Nautikos

Thank you for sharing this article Nautikos.

I cannot comment on the situation in your part of the world, after all political choices vary from country to country. In Denmark the most pro-Israeli party is the Danish People's Party. This party is vehemently anti-immigration, especially with regard to immigrants from Muslim countries.

Some years ago a leading Social-democratic politician contemptuously dismissed this party, saying that it would never fit in to decent society. IMO one of the many ways it has achieved 'respectability' is by showing itself to be pro Israeli. In recent years this party has gained political clout and is now one of the pillars of the present Liberal-Conservative coalition government. One of the most prominent members of the Jewish community here, previously a Social-democrat, has gone over to the Danish People's Party.

I ask myself, why any sensible person will believe that this party only dislikes Muslims? It would seem to me that on average the members are potentially just as anti-semitic as they are anti-muslim.

With regard to religion I'm very liberal minded; orthodox co-religionists would disapprove of me, I'm afraid. However I do share with them the following ethical standpoint.

'Every child with a Jewish education also knows Hillel’s version of the 'golden rule' common to most religions. Asked by a non-Jew to summarise the Torah “while standing on one leg”, Hillel responded, “Do not do to others what would be hateful if done to you. That is the whole of the Torah. All the rest is commentary. Now go and study.” Source:http://www.ijs.org.au/Hillel-the-Elder/default.aspx

That Nautikos is why I as a Jewish person am very opposed to the indiscriminate criticism of Muslims. By all means let us oppose Muslims who misuse their religion in order to terrorise other people. But at the same time, let us remember, that they do not represent the majority.

I am sorry that you seem to be overburdened with personal

problems.

Actually we appreciate this womans ability to write concise well argued articles. I admire her too for continuing her career separate from the tragic facts of her privte life.
