Azur
Congrats on meeting the book person, Azur.   I met one like that when I came here; a man who fascinated me with his knowledge and his willingness to share.  A man who had been a gunner/wireless operator on Lancaster bombers being ferried to the UK during WWII, and who could build a barn or skin a moose by himself.  I hope it all works out for you - for both of you.

I think that you do not let go this opportunity, and the man does have a haunting tale to tell. So, all the best with your book writing. Wishing you a raving success.

Best of luck, Azur.

All my prayers to your friend; her predicament sounds dire.  I've heard some pretty horrifying stories about patients awaiting surgery, from reliable sources.  One story was about hospitals wheeling the homeless/indigent patients back under the overpass immediately after their surgeries.  At least they got the surgery... but then what?

I was listening to an NPR story the other day about National Listening Day (or something like that), during which people are called to tape record the stories of most anyone they find interesting.  Your post just reminded me of that.  It's amazing what we can learn from the experiences of others.

public hospitals in Aust. suck. I used to have to prioritise for surgery
urgency for our weekly lists. It was really a tough call. Good luck with the writing....oh and ask for a fee up front.

With me being nearly a day late reading this, I hope that everything has worked out for the person who needs the surgery.  I will be pray that everything will work out and for healing.  The book project sounds so very interesting.  You will be great for that and I know that he will be pleased with what you do however you do it.

Crossing my fingers that the right bed comes up soon,
and everything turns out right. The writing project sounds like quite a challenge, and it's already had a buoyant effect on your blogging.   write on!
