- Go to Islamo-Fascist Views on Women…
Nautikos
thanks for continuing the debate.
According to your arguments I will concede that traditional Muslim concepts about society can be conceived to be patriarchal. You mention fleetingly that you could have found positive quotes about women from the Koran, and I wonder why you did not include just a few of them for good measure?
In the same way as you showed references to quotes from the Koran, I think it would be helpful if you backed up the following statement with source references.
'On the other hand, there are many Muslims who would like to see Sharia law introduced everywhere, even if they reject terrorism. And Sharia is of course law based directly on the Koran…'
(IMO)It is precisely this type of sweeping statement that contributes to people's general insecurity. The kind of mass insecurity (hysteria?) that yesterday caused 57% of the Swiss electorate to vote against the erection of minarets in Switzerland. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4304838.ece

Like anything else, patriarchy has its good points and it has its bad side. All too often, whether it be with the muslim, Jew, baptist, atheist, or any other, the fundamental beliefs of patriarchy become monstrous and devour any good thing that might have been accomplished by its high ideals.

For me the Lord loves everyone and a faith will never change nor interpret anything that puts one above another! He resides within the person for me and words and buildings are what they are inerrant or not! The love of God is what is eternal and open to anyone that aspires to that realm! Shelly

I can't even comment to your posts, I simply do not want to be involved in any way, it's like playing with evil and who the hell needs to do that?

Another great post Naut. You are keeping a very interesting debate alive
here and I appreciate this. Actually dear Elinio I find mostly all religions Patriarchal.......an evangelist once told me how blessed I was to be born a woman. My life was so easy, I had no need to think about anything, all I needed to do was to obey my spiritual leader. Said Spiritual leader had to drag me off the evangelists throat.
I do believe in making friends not war...I abhor war (except towards aforesaid evangelist LOL) but there are huge issues involved ...........I lived many years in a suburb almost entirely populated with Jewish people and made many friends and nursed many and worked with doctors and........so maybe I have a bias against a Faith that pronounce daily how these people that I have known and loved should be annihilated. Mind You Judaism is in my view extremely Patriarchal as well in some areas.
Hey Kabu.....stop writing a blog....

You use a lot of strong evidence to build your case, as this does seem to be the views that of which those in power have.
