                All I can tell you is what I found in Encarta, there is a lot of info there if you can get Encarta, if not I could copy and e-mail it all to you if you'd like.
  "Loom, machine used in weaving fabrics from yarn or other fibers. A woven fabric produced on a loom is made by interlacing two sets of threads at right angles.
