Now THAT made me laugh! I'm sure my Mother was horrified to see that little number being resurrected out of one of my boxes...! Can you imagine? Like a bad dream, re-visited....

I'm sorry, but I can't stand united with your mother here,
although as members in good standing we're supposed to stick together. But that passive aggressive business is just wrong!  On the other hand, it's possible though, that the appearance of mysterious moth holes might not have been a second assault against the skirt. They may just be scrubbed out bleach spots from your first rescue attempt. Which I guess ultimately leads back to the red nail polish...

We are so not alone in the family struggles, are we? And for the record.....my skirt wasn't THAT short, I promise! I just came from a VERY conservative home. For my first marriage, my mother gave us both the gift of thick, plush, white terry-cloth robes that covered every stitch of us,head to toe...and advised us to wear them on our honeymoon. It was August.

Well if you believe in this sort of thing, you'll know that Someone far more compassionate had me and loved me at one time, long ago....that is the heritage I choose to acknowledge. We siblings were so open to loving them; (the parental units)...why they weren't able to do this, when they had such good hearted kids just waiting to be loved; I really can't say. It's too bad. But God fills in the gaps. He gave me a really great Sister named Kabu....!

I know! We used to brag about stuff we'd gotten away with, to each other, the siblings...but never the ones (parental units) that we'd actually pulled a fast one on! She must've felt safe enough to tell, since I was an old married lady and perhaps wouldn't lose it in front of my kids' dad. I didn't, but I viewed her very differently afterwards...it was just one of a series of events that added up to the fact that she couldn't quite be trusted.

No need to sugar coat things....there's enough sweetness elsewhere. Wow I wish I had that kind of time and or/intellect to sit around all day and think up ways to manipulate my children...perhaps then they'd clean their rooms?

What a funny story! This opened the floodgates of memories! I have a sister who loved revealing clothing and short, short, skirts! LMAO on this one! sam

it's so often we hear the kids tell the stories about
what they did way back, it's a twist of events to hear
the mother confessing of things.

She sounds terrific! Especially the independent and GIVES independence part...good mothering, indeed. When is the next time you will see her? In two years, did you say? Do you have Skype, the free download IM? It has the camera, too....you probably already use it. Thanks for sharing, Abanerjee!

She's independent, gives independence, loves the two of us brothers, I being the younger, worries a lot for me and rings me up almost every other day. I'll see her only after 2 yrs. Ok then, on a May ay, fine.

It is so amazing that these anecdotes are creating a feeling like that; my view is somewhat different; my mother and I are not extremely close, for various reasons. But I understand because I have an adopted mom that is an ANGEL. She lives here in town and if I had to be far from her, I would not like it. Tell me about your mom...? We bloggers should work on some sort of a tribute to mothers and mother types for May, mother's day.

Hi there Darson
I seem to have got addicted to your beautiful writes, just anything and everything out of the blues. You make me miss my mom back in India.

Oh, Taps! That is so sweet. My mother is still amongst us; she is quite the little shtinker, if you haven't guessed. I wish we were close and just want her to be my mom, you know. I have an adopted mom that finished 'raising' me. I will be crying when she's not with us. I believe that your Mom is closer than you think, my friend. Big, big hugs to you.

This post made me cry.  It made me cry because I love and miss my mother so much when I read something like this.  She wasn't perfect I'm sure, but I thought she was.

So Mother would run out of nail polish if she lived at your place? That's so funny!!! If I said I was going to marry an American, my mother would say, "Big deal. I did..." I would have had to try something else. Glad it worked for you, though! That's great!

....Oh NO! Well I was always pretty prudish so I don't think that imagination thing (the lack thereof) was an issue, ever....but I'd be for getting rid of that skirt, too. I have a 14 year old, and she wears jeans, thank goodness!!! So...just out of curiosity...how DID you dispose of said 'item'?

posted by Darson on November 13, 2009 at 8:57 AM | link to this | reply

hahaha...........if your mother around me, she would be messing bunch of my

skirts......I were all length.....depends where I am going....

my mom don't destroy stuff but say horrible things ......I used to shut her mouth by saying,' I will go to America and marry someone out there'.......that was my way of fighting back.....

LMAO

I could so relate to this.... I did something similar to my step daughter mini skirt.  It WAS too short

and she insisted on wearing it all the time, when she would bend over as she often did at the age of 14, it left nothing to the imagination.
