Lauren ROCKS as a sister!!! I've always told her that. Thank you so much for reading, Samantha...oh, and incidentally, I really DIDN'T get un-birthdayed after all, did I? The evil plan was foiled by Lauren in the end....superbly foiled. Have a lovely day!

Awwww... ~ what a memorable account.  and yes, it marked to memory of something you did not want to repeat in your family.  You know parents were 'strict -er' back in the days.  I don't know what all it meant at times...(I can share some stories.)   You keep me mesmerized by the 'detail' and superb style --- my goodness, don't know if I told you this but, You are a Writer ~  ~ Elyse

What descriptive writing...turning a hard stone into a pillow...isn't it amazing what a little time and distance will do...the two greatest healers....other than the Ultimate Healer, of course. Thank you for such an incredibly thoughtful comment, joab!

I'm glad that you give the best birthday to your kids Darson. It is as special as can be.

You are so right that siblings will pick each other up! I did the same as you are doing, great birthdays! My favorite was the one my son had to pick the right door as in "Let's Make A Deal" or it was a broken down three wheeler, a rake or a new bike! He got the right door! sam

Happy Un-Birthday to You
Such a memory as this one will linger on and on  . . . etched into your psyche.  You have turned a hard stone into a pillow, I hope that,  now you can rest your head a little easier.joab

We ARE silly creatures sometimes, aren't we? But we can learn from our mistakes, that's the good part of it all! Thank you so much for reading, elinjo!

As far as reaching out...? You just did! Hugs and hugs right back to you. Here's to laughter and no tears! It has been a blessing to be able to write about all of this; I've processed more than I thought over the years, and have always been able to come up with a positive conclusion. So my parents were lacking...but I had my angel sisters. I've never lacked for love. My babies are the lucky recipients of my early training of what NOT to do...I'm a better mom from what I learned so early. It always stuns me, though, that even really young children like my sisters and I knew wrong when we saw it. Must be the God that's in every child...that's the only thing that I can figure. Huggggs back! You two are dears!

Ough, that was powerful! How could your mother go to such lengths to spoil your day! The terrible things we humans do to each other in the name of morality and good upbringing. You write brilliantly, thanks for sharing.

I had many years of miserable b'days but now thank you God, every day is
a joy and there is laughter instead of tears. I know Mum is your kin but what a horrible thing to do to you. It seems as though your parents enjoyed tormenting you girls but there is always a silver lining and the sibling love and protection must stay with you all your lives. You are a delight to read. I am enjoying your posts enormously and Wiley and I discuss them together and would reach out to you physically if we could. HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
