We experienced an earthquake (4.7 richter scale) on the 16th December last year. The epicenter was in Sweden, but we felt the effects here. It's very, very unusual in these parts. It woke me up when my (heavy double-bed) shook a bit. There was no damage, but it gave the media lots of scope that day. A really bit quake must be terrible.

JUST A LITTLE BIT OF ROCKING AND ROLLING
I lived in San Francisco in the 60's. Felt my first earthquake when the chair in which I was sitting had casters; and the chair started rolling across the floor. Couple of other times in So. Cal 1971 I think it was. Eerie. Our apartment faced the beach, and we could see the sand ripple as the quake moved through -- full moon and all the trimmings. joab
