For me, good poetry should be sung! I think they go hand in hand! As far as learning, we will never stop the area is too vast with more than fifty forms available to write notwithstanding the terminology! So my darlin' Shobana we are fated to endeavor to learn and hopefully along the way we create gorgeous pieces that enlighten man! End of sermon! lol I have had two of my young adult children (my favorite oxymoron) home for the last week; they need sermonizing, lol! Have a great weekend Sweeti! My blessings to you, too! Your sam LUV U 2!!!

Shobana

Before you even mentioned this was a song as I was reading it I felt it could be one.  My tune may have differed from your but it was a beautiful song nonetheless.

This is lovely
I love the central theme, and the lyrics flow, one into the other with such a natural pace.  Bravo!

Anything emanating from the deepest core of the heart is poetry definitely first, and it can be set to music. Yours are both. Very happy Diwali greetings to you and yours. Saw Obama lighting the diyas in the newspaper.
