Re:
I got to thinking about this a few minutes ago, and realized I didn't give credit where it is due.  I was actually referring to notapoet, who manages to maintain a reasonable, middle-of-the-road attitude despite all the extremism rampant these days.  Just getting to know glennb a bit, who gets me thinking with his strings of questions.

So if you're looking for someone within Blogit with a positive perspective, I'd say notapoet, although he did bow out of the ruckus a bit to tend to health matters.

A good thought-provoking article, which makes one think that in the world political scenario, are we going forward or backwards? Added to that is the propogandist news channels that distort in order they remain high in the TRP ratings. It seems so difficult to get out of the imbroglio. Perhaps, it may be a regression, after all!

Some good comments below, and I can always count on GlennB to speak sense.  Americans often tend to believe we live in a bubble over here.  (Ask any 20-ish American to point out Bangladesh on a map within even reasonable proximity to India and you'll likely get a blank stare.)  I think it's a must to follow more sources than the ones here at home, as Tzippy said.  If nothing else it lends a fresh perspective.  When I was in various countries overseas, the news channels presented a wildly different picture than what we are offered here.  One cannot be certain how accurate they are - but I am fairly certain that CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, etc., have devolved into a mockery of American journalism.

I agree with you on the fact that we are not fighting the war

we are maintaining our presense, not a good stradegy, only a way to stay and play forever.

and sadly you are not getting acurate information from CNN

try listening to other sources such as am radio and foreighn sources that may have more of the truth and less of the propaganda. If you want news sources post request in blogit cafe and you will receive sources so you can get a better picture of what is going on.

Ask the wrong question you will always get a wrong answer. Following the logic of the people who lead you to a dead end will never get you out. These people only know dead ends. We have a serious problem and no possible good exit strategy. There is never consolation to the dead and wounded. What do you tell a nation who applaud the destruction of a civilized society, who's objective was to bomb it's people "back to the stone age"? We were successful, how do you get out, reverse injustice (more bombing for the "dead enders")?

I think there should be a clear path as well! The President is currently and quietly deploying 13,000 troops to Afghanistan! A lot of the equipment and supplies are leaves Iraq with destination Afghanistan! So as long as we continue to send supplies and people it will never end! sam
