How utterly exciting to view all those birds ~ Just sounds like a lovely day all around.

Elyse (I have a hawk nesting in my area trees and buzzards galore --- they are a sight to see - especially in mass - and of course all the other wee birdies ~)

Even in the parking lot of the supermarket on the walk outside the store I saw puffy little birds yesterday. The were eating seeds in the bales of straw that they sell by the chrysanthemums. Someone left them crackers on top. I guess that they decided to forget about, selling the straw and fed the birds. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

I have so much enjoyed visiting and investigating the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge near here--well, 90 miles away so it takes a good hour and a half to get there. But, when we go, we usually stay at a little inn in Mound City, and stay for a couple of days. It is in the historic Missouri River floodplain and is a refuge especially for snow geese and bald eagles. I have just loved the times we have been there. Now that you mention it, it is time to go again.

Yes, you are right there are so many interesting things going on all around us. Today my grandson and I experienced first a film crew making a film in the adjoining railway carriage then a children's flea market in the town square i.e. the local children were selling their cast-off toys. Both events were very entertaining. Thanks for your visit.

That is what is always so exciting for me about England when I have been
there There is always something else to explore no matter where you are or how long for. I stayed in Yorkshire inthe 80s for a few months and never ran out of things to do and places to see.

I love to experience the outdoors, even if by proxy! I spent the day cleaning out a house we're renting out to tenants that had left on the fly...indoors (sigh) but now I got to read your post and in my mind, I was wandering around, looking at the herons with you! Truly appreciative that you shared that today!!!

... equally amazing will be the new interests you'll take up in your retirement. Sounds like you're settling into it quite nicely.
