I haven't walked around a graveyard - just to do it - for a long time. My mom loved to go to the very old graveyards on memorial day and look at the old gravestones.

Interesting to bump into this post...
There is a cemetery directly behind my house, the path through which my children walk each morning on their way to the bus stop. My intuition is telling me to come back and read you some more :)

I love "graving" as well.... there is so much mystery in those names and dates and my imagination takes hold of me.

I was taken back by your writing here...My mother loved this 'graving' that you speak of; as a young girl I would recall how we would take drives and walks through cemetaries and she would point to this one and that and recall her family and we'd go visit our family graves. I would get a bit bored as a youngster but, oddly enough just this past few years, I have gone to cemetaries where I may be and have looked over names and dates and yes wonder - and have taken photos ~

I know of some friends that take etchings - I haven't done that yet - however, I do know of graving and your post revived some memories. Good memories ~ Thank you ~ Elyse

I can relate to that, it's something I've done quite a few times. Well now I go and think at 73 how peaceful it may be, but I'm really not ready for that trip yet.LOL Great post kiddo
