I never heard of esperanto before, thank you for sharing
A book by Hellen Keller inspired me to begin learning Spanish. Isnt it weird how certain words said so long ago can influence your life. I speak 3 languages,natually from home, but would love to speak them all.

I've also posted a comment on the site, but it has not appeared yet; a moderator has to check it out. This is what I wrote, if by chance the comment went astray:
'First of all let me congratulate you on writing a respectful and objective article about Esperanto.
Although it has not yet become as well known as was first predicted it is still going strong. Nowadays thanks to Internet many more people have become aware of its existence and potential. Vikopedia has an Esperanto section and Google has also been translated. Earlier people learnt it by attending courses at evening school or the local Esperanto club. Nowadays many of us have learnt it by going on line; e.g. http://en.lernu.net/
Much as I appreciate my mother tongue English and enjoy its usefullness, I have found that Esperanto has opened doors that would otherwise have been closed. For example, travelling in Eastern Europe I have met many very interesting and hospitable Esperantists who have never learnt English. I have never learnt their languages either. They have welcomed me and we have talked about everything and nothing in our shared language.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to research this article. Sadly too many journalists forget the vital fact-finding process that is essential for writing a good article.'

Vogue, I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you. Thank you for writing an excellent and serious evaluation of the history and use of Esperanto,
Many esperantists blog in Esperanto and of course this is a useful activity; because we need to keep in touch with each other and continue developing our language. However I think it's just as important for esperantists to blog in their mother tongues and share their experiences with people who perhaps do not know of its existence. Last year I spent time blogging in Danish. I even wrote an article in Esperanto about the pros and cons of blogging for non-Esperanto speakers. Nowadays as you know a lot of my time is spent blogging in English.
What we write can make a difference, not necessarily monumental, but a difference. I am going to pass the link onto other people I know and hope thereby people will also realize how good your work is.
Enjoy the last few days in Turkey; it's a delightful country and after your winter season in Miami, I'm sure you'll look forward to returning home to Turkey.

You're right Vogue. I can remember, years after graduating high school, I met a couple(friends of friends of friends, etc.) who mentioned a story they had read, and remembered, in an old yearbook from that same school. I had written it. Here was a group of people, years later, discussing it! It was cool!
