Thank you! I am itching to post her real name but that would be a breach of privacy; but it is every bit as good as Bambi Bubbles, I assure you. You would get a laugh out of it. I've often wondered if she made it up to get more male customers....

A great post so well written I felt that I was there.
What a dollop of trollop Bambi is. I mean yeah the name is enough to set one's teeth on edge. You did what you had to do, well done.

Re: elysianfields
Thank you! I think Husband was genuinely shocked to have me point out to him that she was not behaving like a very nice person...and my assertion that 'nice' girls don't hang signs that say, 'Curl up with your hairdresser' in their stations....completely inappropriate!...but to his ultimate credit, he endured several BAD haircuts until we found our Janet. One girl practically shaved his head... (I was nearly in tears for a couple of weeks each time I looked at him, until it grew out...)now that's love, that he would endure that for me; because I was uncomfortable with Ms. Bubbles, whose haircutting methods were for him, tried and true. It took about six months to find a hairdresser that we both liked; in the meantime he was hating his hair, almost daily. It's this kind of sacrifice that I'm learning makes a relationship work. Hats off to Husband; now that his hair looks good, that is....!

(If I remember correctly, you are a male, forgive me if I'm incorrect) I don't think any man would like to be! It isn't fair for both 'Bambi' or myself to put him in such an awkward situation. I would have been more wise not to be present....but had no idea what we were headed for when we made that hair appointment. At any rate, it all worked out swell and we've got a hairdresser that everyone's comfortable with. Kudos to my husband for making that concession for the welfare of our relationship. He truly had no idea she'd behave like that; having never seen her in action.

Oh my ~ such an account and I felt for you --- its an uncomfortable feeling trying to hold it all together gracefully when you really want to grab Bambi by just a titch of her (overprocessed?) hair and whisper:  "back off" and then your wisdom is so great in finding a new hairdresser right away.  Granted, I believe your husband would not have fell into any misbehavin' with Bambi but, she sounds like one on the ole' prowl and yes, could potentially cause some stress.  This made me giggle at times, by your descriptions.  ~ Elyse

I wouldn't like to be in a situation like that.

TAPS
A few more encounters like that with someone less patient than I, and she may not be....!And I agree, Taps, I think we all know women like this who will just never get a clue that way...they don't have very many friends that are other women....and the male friends they have are pretty transparent as to their motives...I agree with another commentor; I think it went right over Husband's head. All he knew is that she did a great job with his hair, and that she seemed pleasant enough. He'd never seen her in action around another Alpha Female.....she and I were both bristling from the get-go.

Oh, I am laughing!!! Sam, that was tooo funny! 'A very tight curl, indeed!' I can't stop giggling. Wow there is such a power in the sisterhood of truly decent women; I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Sharing this has been extremely therapeutic...the good news is that this means I AM NOT WEIRD for getting upset about this encounter. This hairdresser had her claws out, and I was unaware until it was too late. The silly thing is that she is ONLY a hairdresser...and those are expendable.Don't think she was counting on that....or even considered it. That's okay, we love Janet! And our hair looks fab!

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that, abanjerjee! The response to this story has been fantastic...like I said, I've never shared that with anyone; good to know that in the re-telling, the emotions I felt at the time were able to soak in through the wording. My thanks!

Some people never grow up.  Bambi will still be acting like that when she is 70--if she is still alive.

Some folks never catch on! My goodness such an immature attitude on her part! She would be the first one to throw a new beau in his face! And all your husband wanted to do was introduce you! I think he probably missed most of what was going on with her because she was only useful enough for a haircut! At least she did one thing right, he would look awful with a bad haircut! I thought you handled the situation rather well, too! I might have taken that curling iron and introduced her to a very tight curl, indeed! lol sam

Good For You!!!!!
That is shameful she would act in such a fashion. You handled it outstanding. I would have yanked every hair out of her head. But That is just me LMAO!

I am simply floored by your exquisite style of writing. I was glued to it from the start to the end. Bambi and Janet, and how you thought one name sounding like a fanciful stripper and the other, soberly abstemious, is so full of literary 'allusions', that you have amde me your fan. , and I am glad that it is so.

This is the first time I've ever shared this story with ANYONE, other than going home and having a fit about it to my husband...THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the validation!!! I just KNEW it was completely abnormal! Seriously, I can't believe there are people out there that think they can act like that and get away with it. I wish I'd been more aggressive with her, but I was just dumbfounded the entire time. What would you have done? And I agree...you'd have to be one heck of a hairdresser to behave like this and still have any clients at all...At any rate, she's down one...my husband...

posted by Darson on October 3, 2009 at 8:19 PM | link to this | reply

Wow...
If she does this to other male clients' new wives, it's a wonder she's still alive.

Gelato actually sounds pretty good right about now...what is fragola, exactly? Well, I'm sorry that you feel you've missed out; I'm sure Bambi has room for more clients nowadays...she just doesn't have any room for their wives...ha ha ha!

Very funny! But I think I missed out on something - I never went to a hairdresser, it was always a barber, and they were always Italians called Giovanni. And we used to argue a lot about soccer, about which I know little, and baseball, about which I know a little more, though not much more, and in the process I learned Italian, sort of...

But I have given up on barbers for some time now, and forgotten most of my Italian, although I can still order the various flavours of gelato, fragola being one of my favourites...
