Right ON! You go, girl!
I love it that they wanted to take good care of you like that. Enjoy!

Re: great, you can get a good nights sleepand a decent shower have breakfast

Y'know, Kabu, I had that moment... where the outward feel of the thing kinda got to me... though my head was entirely accepting the arrangement--had volunteered for it...  I was tired and a bit overwhelmed by kids who have no notion of personal space, and some issues I have with the dad, my almost-son-in-law, that I had not yet been able to bring up and discuss with him,   and with another thing I had volunteered to do: to let my daughters and their men go off for a dinner together, without kids... Heck, that was even my idea, initially!  But part of me just felt all left out.. . sitting at the kids' table...  So I went downstairs to my quiet place and meditated for 15 minutes, brought that part of me up to date, and all was fine thereafter.

So anyway, I am enjoying this all the more for having not given in to that small sad feeling...

Re: that actually sounds like fun

The occasion is proceeding a-pace... the wedding is Sunday evening, and then I am the sole Grandma remaining with the three kids who come with the house for the next 6 days.

great, you can get a good nights sleepand a decent shower have breakfast
and face the fun and drama all refreshed. Much better than the basement where I would definitely start feeling sorry for myself.

Re: Good Idea
Yes, Azur, there is a lot of stress at every level--even good stress is still wearing! And kids melt down in tears and tummy-aches for no accountable reason... just the rolling wheel of grown-up directed change.

Shobana, yes, it is, until...
you need a little space back...  I will be with the kids for the whole week, the only adult there, so I am going to charge up those inner resources for the next couple of days!  I go back on Sunday night, while the house is full of everyone still except The Happy Couple.

Good Idea
all around. It's a lot to combine the stress of weddings with the stress of houseguests no matter how much they are loved.
