Oh, that is such cruel ragging, thank God in my country we have no such thing.

Beautifully written
We have no tradition of ragging in this country (not any more anyway), and much of what I have heard is accepted in other countries would have a student expelled and possibly imprisoned here, and I think that a good thing.  A little harmless fun is ok, but institutionalised abuse does no good for anyone.

My thoughts are with the lad.

Ragging has assumed serious proportions here in India, with quite a few deaths in recent times. It is so frightening and sad. My prayers are with all the young people who go through the trauma.

My prayers are with your dear one. Ragging can be reprehensibly rough to leave one in shame. Reminded me of my own.

His eldest child can't either.

He will be OK... I knew many that went through hell week and lived to tell about it and though unfortunate accidents do occurr ... mostly its harmless pranks... Most fraternities and sororities make sure now a days that there is someone  there to supervise and make sure it does not get out hand. Prayers never hurt either :-) I will keep your daughter's friends in mine xoxo

At first I thought you were talking about the damaged mind of a war veteran, because I've seen these exact events tear many friends of mine apart...even I've struggled with some of these things! But I feel for him and I hope all turns out for the best!
