that is exactly why he doesnt want to get started at this late stage and I cant blame him but I wish he would of found someone a long time ago, but then again at the divorce rate who knows, most his friends are divorced or on a second or third marriage and look what kind of hell the kids have to suffer from.

If I were 42 and hadn't had a child yet, I would be hard pressed to get into it! It is such a personal decision that I just can't say anything against what he has decided! I know it breaks your heart, but they do that to us, dammit! lol sam

I announced a long time ago that I wasn't going to have kids
everybody in my family was a little heartbroken. Especially my mom. But she had four grandson's to keep her busy. Oh, and with four nephews I don't think my family has to worry about the family name. lol
At least your son was honest with you.

Dear Lustorlove, 3 thoughts struck me when I read this:
Drastic and surprising decision! A 42 year old man is young by today's standards.
A 42 year old is an adult and can make up his own mind. However he could have kept this information to himself; why burden you?
Although he will not be capable of fathering a child, if he complacently neglects to use condoms he could risk putting his health in danger.
