I agree that when difficulties come our way they should be taken as an opportunity of growth, not for God to step in but for us to step in and learn. All we need is right within us if we only listen. Blessed Be.

oh yes, my son
you are absolutely right.

My rendition of the Sermon on the Mount, in the first verse, says as much.

Re: Posted by pastorsylvia (you'e right, Jesus didn't say Christians would
be spared)

I was going to quote the same verse.

Jesus (Yeshua) mentioned in the same passage the tower at Siloam, asking if people htought righteous were killed just the same as unrighteous.

Sort of resembles the Twin Towers.  When I posed the question of whether all the people were nonbelievers, or some were believers, some Christians here shoe to believe they were all nonbelievers and that was God's judgment on them

God is a neutral god.

God can negate physical laws to save people. Yet, the instances of this are few and far between!

I agree with you.  That blogger seems to be suggesting that we can get out of every bad situation by obying the Bible.  I have no personal evidence that supports her statement and lots that refutes it.  In Matthew 5:45 Jesus said "He (God) causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."  Likewise, no amount of obedience is going to spare anyone from Tornados and Hurricanes.  Life dishes out pain on everyone.  It sounds like you and your family have had a horrible year and you have rightly supported them and tried to learn from the experience.  You are remarkeable.  The Word of God is not some cosmic talisman, and obedience is not a "Get out of jail free" card.
