For what it's worth, welcome to Blogit.
I feel your pain here. Often I'll go a week or two at a time without seeing another human face except my immediate family. It makes one have faith in the inner self, acquiescence to the process as it unfolds. Your path will be revealed to you when you least expect it.
As for the DC addiction, there's no way around that. Coffee is my best friend. Gave up smoking two years ago. What I do is set a timer. Half an hour to clean, half on hour on "creative pursuits". You could try that...
