I have never been a fan of the KJV for many of the reasons you cite! So many take it so literally they forget to be a Christian in the process from what I have observed! I think this one is paramount even though I took it from a beginning to a point: The person who hears, understands and puts into practice these things is like the person who would build a house on a foundation of solid rock, which stands firm when storms come Amen! I like this slant of yours, it simplifies and adds the meaning where is it is most effective! sam

This is very lengthy...which is why most bloggers have not commented. While I admire your spirit in making scripture more relevant, scripture is not a sufficient catalyst on the road to spirituality. The bible has been worked and reworked from the ancient languages to English. What becomes clear is that the writers were more like reporters rather than practicing spiritualists. How then can you expect them to use such descriptive words which only accrue with experience. Even your idea reformat deviates from that of the lived Christian life. It is the lived Christian life not the Scriptural back-up that counts!
