Very interesting history of the place  As far as Otto Jelinek being part of our family, I have no idea.  The names that are familiar to me among my Jelineks are Joseph, Vaclav, Voyta, Rudolph, and Frank (something else before he immigrated to America.

Hi Naut!
It seems I have a lo of catching up to do and lots of homework on the internet to get some more info on Nova Scotia. Being an Old World girl, there is a lot for me to learn.

I agree, Nautikos
It's interesting history you are giving us here, and about a very fascinating culture, for the Acadians do have their own distinct culture. You'll have every history buff wanting to tour that part of the country, and that's a good thing.

It really is interesting to see how different colonies at the time evolved.

I am really enjoying this series of articles. This region has a fascinating history. You must have gone to a great deal of trouble to research the background.
