DON'T TAKE CHILDREN AWAY FROM PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!!
vouchers, charter schools, tax breaks for private tuition -- all that takes away from public schools.

they take money away in the form of payment per student

and public schools are badly strapped as it is, what with property tax income being affected by such things as lower assessment of inner city properties and tax abatements for new construction and of course the conservative ides of lower taxes overall where there's not money in federal and state coffers for adequate distribution to schools.

the idea of public schools is equal education for everyone.  vouchers, charter schools (which seem to be no better than public, if not worse), tax breaks, leave public schools with less funding and less able to provide the ducation.

These other schools will enroll only a select few, and the "worst" will remain in public schools, where they will receive even less quality education.  This flies in the face of the aim of public education -- this is a segregation of sorts -- separate and unequal education -- and it was supposed to be dealt with by "Brown vs. Board of Education.
