Re: Dancin

It is always a joy to watch Special Olympics. The "catchers" are just over the finish line, yelling encouragement, and the Olympians are trying their best to finish. As they come across the finish line, they are "caught" in open arms and hugged.

Eunice Shriver started the Special Olympics in honor of her sister Rosemary. Quite an accomplishment since it began in her backyard and has now spread worldwide.

Re:
That is terribly sad. Some parents just cannot handle it. I really don't know how my mother managed all those years, especially as her own health went downhill. It is like having a child forever. Your son must be very strong and courageous and I'm sure his reward is the love he receives from your grandson.

I have a 23 year old grandson who is mentally two years old and he does not speak.  He lives at home with my son and has run in special olympics though he cannot quote anything.  He loves life and life is full for him except for his absent mother and younger brothers.  She left when he was about 12 taking the younger boys with her, because she was not up to the challenge.  How sad.

Dancin

Until yesterday I confess it didn’t know of Eunice Shriver’s involvement with the Special Olympics.  It must have been a great joy to watch your sister run that 100 yard dash – to watch all her small yet remarkable achievement for that matter.
