I am now going to show my ignorance! Gay literature I suppose is a modern trend; however can you quote examples of literature written by gays about gay life, say in the 19th century?
Oscar Wilde was gay, but reading his plays it is not very apparent. Even the Ballad of Reading Gaol was about the death penalty, not about the reasons for his imprisonment.
