Comments on Three farewells

Go to Life in the Rocking RectoryAdd a commentGo to Three farewells

It's going to be an emotionally exhausting month!

When my dad retired, a luncheon was given for him.  He had been the Hayden Planetarium's first PhD astronomer, for a while, chairman, and always a popular teacher of celestial navigation and other adult education classes. He'd also met a lot of people.  So the little autograph book that was passed around the tables for farewells and comments is quite a document.  My favorite page says:

Why are you making all this fuss? Go! Go!   Isaac Azimov

Eat, drink, and be merry for soon they will be finished with their farewells and you and Ed will have to fend for yourself.

I haven't been reading regularly, unfortunately.  Is your church being closed?  I love the way you write about each event and look forward to more....Mal

I know the Challis! At one time I was extra ordinary minister for the Eucharist! The first time I served the wine I did not know others could help me finish! Then I got on my bicycle to ride home after mass and I felt like I was on high heels for the day as well! Then one year a gentleman called who was in charge of the eucharistic ministers and said, "Would you like to be an extraordinary minister?" Of course I said yes!!!  lol

Rocking

What a day!   Each of these “farewells” must be somewhat bittersweet.  And I suspect you will be fairly emotional when the biggie rolls around.
