telynor, he got elected because
like Bush #1 he said "Read my lips, no new taxes."
People are selfish. They want to believe they can
have all the social services they need, and no one
will actually have to pay for them. So they continue
to elect guys who tell them that. Screw the reality.

You know,
I'm really surprised that the Mitch Romney who helped to raise homeowner taxes to the heavens in Utah managed to get elected in Massachusetts. I suppose I ought to thank my lucky stars and be happy that he didn't get in here in New York...

Majroj, maybe what we need are
LOTS of disaffected college students, so disaffected
that they target the source of the problem and take action.
When things get bad enough people take action.

Watch California's budget for a microcosm, except we don't go to war
1. Cut taxes
2. Cut budget
3. Find a way for someone to make money on the budget woes (float a bond).
And, yes, the biggest stimulus for economic progress, the university systems, are being attacked, including a "no enrollment growth" rule. They just finished a new campus and it is essentially gutted, leaving hundreds or thousand of enrolees our in the cold. Maybe they want to replace migrant farm workers with disaffected college students.

Sad, Isn't It?
They can spend $87,000,000,000 on a bogus "War on Terror," but they won't spend a a thousandth of that on art, on culture, on life. No. That's too damn extravagant.
For those who think I am too harsh on the Republinazis, well, I got news for ya'--I ain't harsh enough.
Keep up the great work, Cynthia.
