The chalice...
I was episcopalian for about 30 yrs....In the 80's in America I remember our priest talking about a study re infections being transmitted through the shared chalice, and seem to remember that there wasn't evidence of transmission....

Yes, it is crazy. I work in a hospital Lab...and there isn't as much fear among US as there is among the public. It will most likely be a big Fall for the flu. But what does one do? As for us, we will wash our hands...and go on living.

There was just a headline in the local paper about the projection that 40% of Americans will get Swine Flu over the next two years. I agree with you that it's getting out of hand to the point where even religious ritual is being effected!!! Geeesh.....Mal

I agree, it is time to move forward! I can appreciate all the confusion! I would let folks have the choice! Some have such strong convictions it would be terrible to take away the choice! sam

I never drink the wine at Communion. Haven't since my 1st Commuion. Why? Because of germs.

rector, I totally agree with you...they scare us into almost a panice mode
and ten say "relax"...um, yeah, right..
...from what I've heard, this strain of flu is no better or worse than many of the strains already out there.....

New versions of the PIGS THAT FLY flu are showing up...and they are killing people. Play it safe, get the best flu killers into your medicine cabinet. Garlic is good too but I prefer oxygen!

I totally agree
especially as people at the day job are taking advantage big time! I remember the chalice debate when AIDS first became a concern. Why do we British have to fall over ourselves every time to be the first to fall over?

Who knew that even the clergy would be putting into place safeguards because of the swine flu!?! I’m pretty much sick of hearing about it as well – too much information can make people paranoid.
