Now that is a perspective that didn't occur to me - and of course it's yours now, that's why we share them, isn't it?

Re: Very cool, Lionreign
Thank you! I think if we could all learn to love more and love less selfishly then war would not happen, but then I believe that in each tragedy is a lesson we need to learn to become truly happy and that we often fail to learn them.
Even in missed opportunities are lessons

Re: BC-A
The tricky bit is moving from meeting somebody to knowing them... and then being open enough to allow the relationship to develop to its true potential

So close, yet so far away! I adore this poem! It's two travelers and neither seems to be able to say the right thing at the right time! Since it is my imagery now, I ponder her thinking she has lost as well! So exquisite! sam

This reminds me of an old joke.......
She offered her honor
He honored her offer
Then he was honor offer honor offer!

Very cool, Lionreign
Lust vs. Love and their inevitable ambiguity...the interwining of the two...and woman's feelings and man's...and yes, we are stuck with it!
A very good observation of the exasperation that life sometimes provokes in us -
In my opinion.
Why couldn't things just be simple: Make love, not war. But then I am a child of the 1960s and people might say I have been heavily propagandized into believing in freedom and love first.
On the other hand, having "gone further, I have fared worse," and today as I wind down towards bodily disintegration and death, I am broke, wifeless and far away from many of my loved ones. Seems that the fable about the ant and the grasshopper might have been a better route for me to have followed.
Anyway, your poem made me think. And I think it is very smart.

before loving someone, be a friend to them, love will happen it's own time
.......you are such a nice person, once someone meet you even for instance, you will be in their thoughts, so you will be one of them lucky one who gets the second chance surprisingly, wish you luck my dear friend...

Wonderful poem Lion... a sweet reminder that oportunity rarely knocks twice and when love is concerned no effort should be spared, after all,,, the worse that can happen is that we get turned down... but painful as that must be, it is better than spending a lifetime regreting not having tried. You said it so well... Excellent work!
