Re: about unions
Retirement in the form of pensions pre-dates trade unions.  The trade unions simply extended the concept to the non-professional, non-military, non-governmental workers.  As a form of deferred compensation, it is a useful innovation in labor contracts.  As a welfare measure, I object to it on the same grounds as I objected to Social Security, namely that it ties the provision to employment and thus results in less freedom for the worker.  This is tantamount to workfare.  Thankfully, the portable pension approach of 401K accounts has restored many of those freedoms.

As for health care benefits, there are two problems with these.  First, as with social security and retirement accounts, these benefits are tied to being a wage slave,  i.e. an employee.  Second, the benefits provided are health insurance, the bane of medical care in this country for a half-century now.  See my criticisms of health insurance here and here.  I advocate Municipal Medical Departments in place of health insurance, both public and private.

Re: big corporations harm us all more than all the rest put together
The national companies, beyond the jurisdiction of any one state and wanting to keep it that way, control career politicians through their career aspirations.  A local woman or man about town that runs for office doesn't need the money to plaster their face across the televised billboards, regardless of whether that money comes directly from a national company or indirectly through the career politicians union aka the political parties.  When regular anti-Party Janes and Joes dominate Congress, they can repeal all of the legislation passed by the career politicians that has propped up the throne of the national companies.  Until then, the career politicians will not do anything to dissipate their power, though lately they have displayed a fascist proclivity to shift it in their direction.

Count me in!!!  A new party is just what we need... Trying to fix these two we have is like repatching a pair of old jeans ... it might cover the problems but is just a temporary solution.  New is what we need!!!   xoxo

about unions
without unions you probably wouldn't be able to draw retirement or social security or health benefits.

before unions -- you should read history.

This Johnsonville Press piece is excellent.
I can see why you are saying 'no parties'. Unions do much more harm than good. Acorn is just another form of Union too.
