I've heard of this courageous owman but didn't know she'd written about her experiences. Middle Eastern fathers abducting their children is quite an issue in this country.

snowview, the movie "Not without my daughter was very well done and
all the more terrifying and suspenseful realising it is based on a true story.....

I cannot imagine this happening
but I know it does, every hour of every day

I cannot imagine the pain of having my children (or grandchildren) stolen from me.  It is bad enough having them live a thousand miles away.  Knowing they are safe and with their parents makes it OK.  But, I cannnot imagine how difficult it must be not knowing where they might be or in what condition.

This does sound like one to check out! I liked how you let others speak with their excerpts, too! Shelly

This sounds an interesting book, Nita. Thanks for drawing our attention to it. She sounds as very brave and dedicated woman, as is indeed the heroine in 'Not without my daughter'.

I only have one problem with books about this particular theme; they often sell extremely well for the wrong reasons. Because some people are looking for proof to support their arguments about cross-cultural marriages not working and seeking to put the blame on Muslim (bogey) men. Like any other kind of marriage, a cross-cultural relationship can break down for all kinds of reasons not necessarily connected with cultural differences.

You have only quoted the publisher's blurb, so perhaps this particular book takes a balanced view of this topic. I shall see if I can borrow it from the library.
