As a kid, I wanted to be a new thing every week-a teacher, a bus driver like my mom, an inventor, a stenographer, etc. The whole time, I wrote stories and poetry, never thinking that you can actually make a living off of those things. It seemed so unrealistic. When it came time to pursue something, I decided to strive to open a restaurant, since I love to cook. I am a cook, now, but opening a restaurant takes so much initial capital! So I decided to try to get something published...and it worked! My first book just came out for sale last month online. Who'd have thought I'd have my "unrealistic" goal realized before my "realistic" one? I am working on my sequel now, but I'd still love to open a restaurant! Hopefully, I'll make enough from the book sales to start that and have the best of both worlds :)

husband and freedom to do whatever I want so long as it doesn't cost much. Well money doesn't bring happiness but birds, and animals, Wiley and good food love and writing. No money could buy this joy.

Marvelous link Lustorlove! Retirement is rebirth for many of us.
I can relate to your childhood dreams. Mine also included a model husband and six children plus a house in the country with dogs, cats and other symbols of tranquility. I have a good daughter and a comfortable flat in the suburbs, no dogs and cats though because I have not got time to give them a decent life.
