That’s a good point. Just to make it clear to others who may be reading this page, to avoid any confusion, we only considered examples where it seemed very likely that the authors were different.

A recent example was "The Reality of Putting one's own Self Down", posted to Bhaskar.ing's blog on May 31, and which he said he had written in 2006. It turned out to have been actually written by Richard Carlson on page 95 of the book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff--and it's all small stuff", first published in 1996.

I attempted to reserve judgement because my opinion was biased

Just before this issue flared up I had my last encounter with the accused party. Then someone of a group I would trust to some degree implicitly, made an accusation that turned out to be well founded. My instincts prevailed again fortunately.

Now, tell me: what am I to make of this? Are number one and number two the same author?

Author One

Author Two

When I see things such as this, I feel someone has a choice of pleading guilty to one of two charges; "plagiarism" or "giving the impression of plagiarism". Plead guilt to the former . . . get lost, you are a pariah to a writing community. But plead guilty to the latter, clean up your act and then maybe we have something to talk about. If any individual does not take the opportunity to clean up their act when their credibility is suffering to this degree, they have simply made a mistake. An incredible display of incredibly poor judgement.

Thank you....
The explanation of this incident has given me confidence that it was, indeed, all handled most professionally and I feel comfortable about it now.

It is sad it came to this but I guess, c'ést la vie.
