Re: mariposa

I would be lost without spell checkers.  Most of my misspellings are typos, but they sure help with that.  Sometimes I even make an intentional mistake in a word that I am not sure of so that the spell checker will present me with choices.

The only problems that I have with the online checker here is that it is a little spastic.  It pops up and tells you that you spelled something wrong, but the popup blocks the word that it is talking about.  You try to move the popup and it goes away.  Try to click behind the popup to see the word and the popup goes away.  Then you try to work on the text, but the spell checker is still running without the popup showing and you can't do anything.

I would never do any document, even a comment, without a spell check.  When you make a dumb mistake that you know is wrong, you can read past if 20 times and not see it.  I just don't like spell checkers that goof up.  The one here is much better than it used to be, but it still has bugs.

The spell checker here doesn't like the word popup.  What do you think it will tell me if I spell it poopup?  (It didn't like that one either.)

Re: BC-A
Actually the bottom line is the subtotal.  The next one down is the total.  I write it in with invisible ink because I'm afraid somebody might see who I really am.  Then they would make a judgement, and I abhor those.

Re: Pat B

I don't always think I'm right, but I always like act like I know what I am talking about.

I'll get back over and see what you have changed.  I really think that writers often get too carried away with their words and forget what it is that they are trying to say.  Even popular professionals do it.  I do the same thing, but I like playing with words just for fun.  If I were attempting serious fiction, my style would change considerably.  Or else my fiction would be from somewhere in outer space.  Or not.  Or who knows?

I like the spell checker.  I have pretty good spelling, but not perfect, and it helps a lot.

I read it anyway. Come on Jack you’re a nice guy somewhere in your post as I think you admit it’s in there even if it’s not the bottom line. My own text runs through but I include links for further reference. BCA, Bill’s Roost

Cheer up, JJ...
Yesterday as I worked on my sequel to Waltzing With Zombies, I kept thinking of your comment to me about overwriting, and began trimming. Thanks for reminding me. Guess this means we're not all just standing around ...

Re: rocking r
Umpty about it?  I rather like that term.

Re: rocking r
I have no doubt of the truth in what you say.  The problem is that it seems to trample across all boundaries.  I find people in the hardware and grocery stores who agree strongly with what I didn't say.  I had to deal with one rather abruptly over the telephone just this morning to tell them that I didn't want the insurance that they were sure I would ask them for.

Are you sure you're not talking about church? That's the official place where folk pretend to listen then tell you what you haven't said (generally getting a bit umpty about it...)

Liked this blog!
