I meant "awareness & education" on part of the public, as it is happening in the US, UK, India,etc

I am not sure how valid your point is? There are some highly educated people keeping up the party line. As you suggest "hope" is a great ally.

My take is...
it is those people that are controlling the party that make others fearful of speaking out...but then that's a world-wide phenomenon..the more aware / educated people become, the less chances for it to go on, hopefully!
