Re: Note

Merkie, We certainly do have a lot in common.  I played piano for years--classical original pieces.  Then I had to get my thumbs fused on both hands at difcerent.  I never could play right again.  At least not like the original Beethovens I memorized in the past.  I just cna't span an octave any longer.

I truly appreciate your notes and your comments.  You are an excellent poet.  keep up the good work.

I have started a new type of painting pictures.  At least it is channlenging me.  Mos t of my life, I painted landscapes, seascapes, etc.  Lots of animal , etc. using acrylics and sometimes watercolor. I even have a few still lifes.  I try to stick to things looking as realistic as possible.  Modern art is just too much of a stretch for reality for me.  I have started doing pictures in oil pencils and in coloured pencils.  It takes many hours of hard work, but it is something I have to think to do.  It is also relaxing and fun.  I do birds, irises are a specialty of mine, and I do canvases as well.  Do you show your work.  You may want to try that at some of the cultural centers around the city you live near or in.  It is also fun and difficult in some ways.  It is difficult to sit there for two whole days without a break of much of anykind.  I made some jewelry for two years and have a lot around.  I had trouble landing a good place in the shows.  I would reserve for the main lobby and end up in some back classroom that people sort of did not realize was in the show.  Oh well.  I still sold some.  Selling is new to me and so is pricing.  I do not have a clue as to how to price my art.  It seems small pictures are something I'm good at and they sell for about $45.00.  That seemed to be a nominal fee.  No one ever buys much art.  They like my charcoals of cats doing different antics.  Also I had a cat sell that was painted in acrylic on 100 lb. rag paper for 45.00.  It was a silent auction.  The money went to support city cultureal arts centers around Dallas.  I am far from being famous because of the interruptions with surgeries in the past 9 years.  I have done about 10 shows.  over the years.  Let me hear form you.  Have a good evening.

Yours,
